Art Recess Play 2019

Term 2’s Art Recess Play saw an increase in the number of girls participating in the activities. Students from P1 to P6 lined up eagerly for their turn to try their hands at impression printing with paints.

The girls were given a collection of very ordinary things, such as leaves, clips, threads, feathers, paper cut-outs, and nets. With their artistic hats on, the girls chose four to five items which they arranged on gelatin boards that had a thin layer of paint. The girls then placed their paper on the board and pressed gently to create an imprint of the items. The end result was modern art!

The popularity of the activity kept the team of parent volunteers busy who applied a fresh coat of paint on the boards for each impression print made.

Impression Print made with a selection of items and orange paint

In Term 1, the girls created masterpieces by rolling paint-covered marbles over paper in a box. This was done by placing a sheet of paper in a metal box, dropping marbles in that had been dipped in paint, and tipping the box so that the marbles rolled around. The resulting artwork consisted of random splotches and lines.
