It was a fun morning of baking Kit Kat Chocolate Chip Cookies in the comfort of their own kitchen. Familiar faces filled the Zoom screen as pairs of parent-child participants joined the Zoom call for the 2-hour online baking session.
The baking kits were delivered to the participants’ homes the day before. Each baking kit came in a box and contained pre-portioned fresh ingredients that were vacuum sealed to ensure its freshness. Perishables in the baking kit were packed in a foil bag with ice packs.
Eager to begin, the children laid out their ingredients and equipment at the start . Although extremely tempting, none of them nibbled the bars of Kit Kat!
The children were brought step-by-step through the baking process by the instructor and had fun sifting, cutting, melting, whisking, mixing, folding, scooping, and moulding.
Some baked all twenty-four cookies while others chose to freeze half of the cookie dough to bake at a later time.
The children could not wait to sink their teeth into the cookies that were crispy on the outside, and soft and gooey on the inside. Many ate the cookies as soon as they were cool enough to hold!
Each parent-child pair also received a card-making pack.
